AV Equipment into a Cabbie

Ive just layed my hands on a load of Av stuff (TV, Sat Nav, tuner, dvd player, etc.)

I'm more than capable of fitting it and will hopefully be doing it soon, one thing i need to try and find out though is does the Mk1 DX engine have a speed sensor wire? If so were is it?

I need to chop into this for the Navi system and the spped pulse touch screen sensor on the Alpine tv.

Anybody come across this before with a bit of knowledge.

Please give me all the advice you have
Cheers

Your brave puttin that all into something that can be opened with a spoon!!!

Besides id say that SatNav wasnt thought of when they made these cars, so no the wire is probably not there. :dontknow:

The MFA caculates average speed, it must be a speed sensor, just where is it….must dig out the haynes!!!

On my 1990 cab there is a wire used to raise the voulme on the radio when the speed increases…does this help :dontknow:

Yep! Late cabs have a speed sensor wire. Its yellow and white. Think it goes from the speedo to the radio connection and then there's another connection around the fusebox.

Hi guys,

Just for your information and to thank you all (or not all) I have got it all nicely installed into the car and the YELLOW wire behind the stereo opening was in fact the speed pulse sensor which shows just how advanced VW are i thought.

I found out a lot whilst doing what should have been a simple install so if anyone else has any problems in future drop me a line.
