Are VDO & Motometer speedos interchangeable?

The VDO speedo in  my 1993 Clipper has died.

I've got another speedo to go in, but it is a Motometer. To my unskilled eye it looks the same, but does anyone know for certain that they can be swapped?

Also does anyone know of a decent auto electrician that would do this job for me, my regular garage said they'd rather not do it. I'm based in Warwcik (West Midlands)

mk2 vdo/motormeter speedos are interchangable, not 100% on mk1 tho sorry.

the job itself is pretty easy, 8 bolts on the back and a screw for the voltage regulator and the backs pop off, then there is a plug on the pcb that goes to the circuit board on the speedo. give it a go
