Alternator pulley adjustment.

Hi chaps,

I have a feeling i know the answer to this one, and hope i'm wrong

I bought a new alternator, handed the old one back,  fitted it and found the pulley is out of line with the water pump and crank. I've tried removing the pulley from the alternator to try and shim it up but cannot secure the rotor enough to get enough welly on that pulley bolt. Has anyone else had this grief?

Was the pulley length on my old alternator different to this new one and should i of swapped it over before handing the old one back to collect my surcharge?

I think the alternator shaft is tapered and on a key so even if i did get it off, i wouldnt be able to shim it anyway. I'm only guessing though  :dontknow:

  Thanks again guys,

  Rob.
