how easy is this, is it possible to do without specialist equipment??? any tips would be great cheers.

or get a delorien, attach a flux capacitor set the dash to the year the car was made, then get it to 87 mph and bosh go by it from new, job done!!!

you think the speedo on a delorean was that accurate?
88mph was about 40 in really terms but it still worked.

thanks guys..all really helpful tips!!! ive got a new clock because my old one broke and just wanted the same mileage to keep the car genuine...didnt realise that was so funny!!!!

sorry mate but you have to see the funny side.

no it's not an easy job. and is not worth doing. stick the clock in as is.

you will never get them lined up correctly and the clocks will look tampered with.

there is an easy way of doing it but i will have to check with a few people before i tell you.

you can understand why cant you? if we openly posted how to clock old vws on the site think of the amout of "low millage" examples there would suddenly be  :wink:

it, probably easier to keep a note of how many mile you need to subtract to get the rea mileage, or buy clocks with a closer mileage.

it won effect the resale value too much as most people will by the car based on it condition.

ahh its 88!!! thats why i wrote off 5 cars this year already…..doh
