91 GTI Cabrio Engine wiring help please!!

Please could anyone tell me what the following are for please?

now the red/black wire is not attacted to anything! the wire has been cut off in the scuttle area



the next is: the plug connects to the bracket but what is it for



in the second pic you can see the 'yellow' taped loom this is the cut one which contains the red/black wire as well as numerous others that are not attached to anything

please can anyone help

the 2nd pic, if you mean the black bit the connector plugs into, its your ignition amp aka ignition control module

nope its just fine as it is
