1983 Mk1 GTi wipers

Hi, on the car I've just purchased the wipers seized on the way home.  Just stripped the linkage and motor and one of the spindles was corroded bad.  Cleaned it all and greased, spindles now fine.  Connected it all back up and the wipers are now on all the time, two speed switch seems to work , but they won't park in the off position.  Any ideas please?

sounds like a duff motor to me, but try disconnecting the plug to the wiper switch and see if that stops it. if it does then switch is likely the casue, if not then its the motor or a short
