1.8 gti Distributor

Just after some advice, Refitted the engine back into my 83 gti and i now have no spark, I have found a lead which isnt connected on the front of the distributor which i assume is my problem, Its a single lead connected with a spade connector and on the other end is a hoop connector. I cant think where it connects to,

Can Anyone help!!!

What's a hoop connector?

The only way i know of discribing a  connector crimped on the end of the wire with a hole for putting a bolt through.

Do you have pics of the old and new dizzy? It sounds like you've fitted one without the hall sender, ie for contact points. That or the mystery connector is a condenser, and you've made some other misconnection or its not starting for another reason. Does the new dizzy have a hall sender and did you plug this in?

No i dont believe it does. its the same dizzy that came off the car when i removed the engine. I have put it to earth and i still have no spark
