petrol to diesel how 2 ?

i have a mk1 1.8 16v and am thinking of putting a diesel in it but what one to go for 1.6td or newer 1.9tdi or what and what wireing do i need anyone did this conversion as any info much appreciated

td is easier that tdi

td conversion you need glow plug wiring and fuel pump ignition live wire

Td is a lovley conversion or you could do like I done with my corrado an mtdi conversion as easy as td but the reliability of a tdi. Google mtdi and see your options

Without wanting to hijack the thread how did you do yours as this is the main thing that puts me off an mtdi conversion.  Do you fancy writing (or posting a link to) an idiots guide to mtdi?

Its very simple I used a aaz pump and turbo on mine. I usd a sdi engine. If im to do it again im going to use a disco pump
