mk1 turbo diesel- some questions :)

gathering my parts for my summer project.

planning on building a 1.6 turbo diesel mk1 golf.

have a 1.6turbo diesel engine,box drives and exhaust all from a mk2 jetta.

im putting the diesel into a 83 mk1 1300 petrol.


whats the story with the engine mounts? i need to use the mk1 mounts-but what mount do i use to take the 5speed gearbox? as it only has a 4speed box at the moment.

what drives will i then need to run with the 5 speed box? where do i get them from-what car?

now iv got some issues with the linkages- can i use the mk2 jetta gear selector? or do i need a mk1 5 speed linkage?

is there an issue with the engine not fitting flat enough to close the bonnet?

will i need to get a different arb as its now a 5speed?

what sort of brake upgrade can i do? id realy like to stay using my 13inch wellers if possible. can i upgrade to a mk2 16v 256mm disk and calipers? if so- how?
iv run my 13inch wellers-with a 10mm spacer and its cleared the 16v brakes. can i upgrade my master cylinder and servo? to what?

what rad can i use and is there any clearance issues?
also do i have much room to play around with a front mount intercooler?

is the downpipe from the diesel block to big to fit? or will it squeeze in?

im planning on running with a set of coilovers to take the extra weight and to help with the handeling.


Anything else im missing for the conversion?

anyone have a link to this conversion thats already been done? any info at all will be a good help.
