mk1 golf/caddy 1.6 diesel wont start! please help (my daily)

hey all need some help..

my mk1 caddy 1.6 diesel wont GO!

it was idleing but as soo as you touch the the throttle it might rev a little but it would cut out.

i called a mate he said it could be the fuel filter blocked - changed it, with no change! there is fuel in the filter so some fuel is getting through, glow plug light on dash says all in OK, could the fuel pump not be getting enough where it needs to be?

any info would be EXTREMALLY APPRECIATED!!!

Sounds like air in fuel. When was the fuel filter last changed? Is it corroded or the fuel connections loose?

  sorted  cheers all! guess what… fuel guage said 1/4 tank… was actually empty *CENSORED* HELL!! AAAAAAAAAAAH 7 hours wasted!!
