Engine and box

Hi just got myself a Mk1 van well its a shell to be honest. It has a Polo engine in it I think but I want to go back to a non GTI engine  or possibly a 1.8 carb. Does anyone have one they want rid of. I will pay what ever the going rate is, I am in North Yorkshire, but would travel for a good engine and box. Thanks ….Trevor 

I do have a 1.8 Dx engine its bare do have exhaust manifold and inlet but no injection system

I've got a fully rebuilt small block 1.4 golf engine coupled with a very nice Close ratio ratio seat box and Webber carb. Bought for my mk1 about 6 months ago but now going down g40 route.
I'll have to see what I payed for it but let me know if interested.

Hello Trevor, I'm a pretty fair distance from you mate! Being right on the south coast in Lewes, close to Brighton. Bn7 2ph is where the engine is.
However if your looking for an original small block engine then this is a good one. Not only because it's been fully rebuilt but also as box, engine and carb are very well matched.
I couldn't find the piece of paper with the engine details on it today but I'll keep looking.

It's a 1.3 head (rebuilt)
I think 1.4 golf -rebuilt bottom end: if not then it's also a 1.3 also - rebuilt.
Webber carb (can't remember what it came off) but very well matched to engine. Custom made conversion plate so carb mounts to inlet properly.
Very good seat close ratio gearbox which really livens up the engine and makes it fun to drive.
Also comes with: modified gear linkages and stick to suit the seat box- the whole gear linkage and stick etc is included so you can just bolt straight onto your golf.
Exhaust manifold
Water pipes
Everything is there ready to drop in, there so basic engines just a few wires from your loom to plug in and your away.
Oh new clutch 500 miles ago when rebuild was done.
Got some spare engine parts I'll throw in too…
May even have some driveshafts u can have if u need any- I'll have a dig tomorrow.

It's a lovely little engine- only been used to drive a show car mk1 golf to 3 shows  earlier this year approximately 500 miles. would keep it as a spare engine, but already got a g40 , 1.8t  and a 1.3 polo gt engine all out of cars right now. Plus I'm a self confessed vw hoarder

Can get wrapped on a pallet if that helps with the distance.

What did it drive like when you had it in the car
Any chance of a picture of it
don't want to be offensive but any movement on price?
How much do you think it would cost to put on pallet

Hi Trevor, engine was spot on- fully rebuilt so to be expected really. I can put on a pallet for you and wrap, not a problem. Likely to cost *£40-50 to get engine etc to your door. Sorry but not keen to move on price- in my opinion worth every penny as rebuild alone would cost way more than I'm asking for whole package. Will send you some photo's later this eve or Monday eve.

I'm gonna be removing my 1.8 dx from my cabby hopefully next week, runs mint, 118k, new cambelt, serviced earlier this year.. Depends on how soon you need one obviously.. But it is a cracker.. You can have it complete for £125.. I'm Nr Manchester. If you pm me a no I'll send you a vid on whatsapp of it starting and running. I'm fitting a Tdi hence the removal
