For big to small conversion
I have been told that the cabriolet used small rear lights the same as my series one tiptop. Could anyone cut them out roughly from a scrapper so i can convert my new big light panel to small. I can do all the cleaning up but they must be rust free. They would need to packaged and then i would arrange collection and payment. Many thanks Steve

They use the same lights but the panels are nothing like each other.

I don't need the whole panel just about 20mm bigger than the small lights themselves. The new vw rear panel is welded in now apart from the light part so i am intending to clean up and fit the small light openings and extend the end to blank off the larger rear light. The fixing holes for the small lights are no where near in the new panel. I only intend to cut out a small portion of the new panel.

Would a cardboard template of small lights bolt pattern not be better to cut out and weld in along with the blank at the side? Save welding and cleaning time?

That is a possibility but there is a step on the inside that offsets the fixing nuts. it would be easy if the inside of the light was flat but it's not. If panels are not forthcoming i will have to look at another way such as the one you sujested. Steve
