Changing priorities mean I'm reluctantly selling my beloved 1980 Mk1 GTI.
She's been my daily driver for six years and has been dependable and fun. She's low mileage for her age and driven responsibly.
Loads of receipts, including recently:
Engine refurbishment in August 2013 including dismantling head, pressure testing, refacing valves and seats, replacing valve guides, new piston rings and consumables
Fuse box
Brakes, callipers, ball joints
Steering rack gaiters
Radiator
Seats reupholstered
Because of replacing the odometer, the current mileage reading is not the car's original mileage. Here is the breakdown of the readings – I’m happy for you to verify this with my insurer, on request.
Old odometer at point of removal (30/07/2015): 85194
Replacement at point of installation (30/07/2015): 63635
Replacement currently (11/03/2016): 64526
Almost mint condition inside, save for small patch of worn carpet and damage to rear of headliner.
Outside very good condition for age,but some rust to rear valance and arches, plus the normal wear to paintwork. The exhaust mount is a bit loose and the rear wiper isn't working.
I'm including with the sale the Porsche Teledial wheels, which have some kerbing (see photos), plus adapters. The car is priced to reflect this.
Standard suspension has been appropriately stored and will be provided with the original p slot alloys to any buyer, so the car can be easily returned to standard specification.
While not flawless, she's been well looked after. If I could afford to keep her then I would. GTIs of this age are really rare now, so I hope she'll find a new owner to love her as much as I do!
