Ok, quite simple, who is running a 20vt.
What bhp are you getting ? dyno times to prove.
is the car drivable?

go on spill the beans, is it worth it.

Mate of mine got this 20VT motor in his Mk2 Golf, run-in map on 1.7 bar boost, engine was built to handle 2.4 bar boost. Unfortunately he suffered a major failure 3 days after the Dyno run when one of the screws holding the throttle plate in his new Forge throttle body came loose and was sucked/blown into the motor destroying a piston, valves and damaging the head. Over the top for a daily but not too difficult to drive as long as you keep track of the amount of ponies under your right foot. He is busy rebuilding it at the moment.

Elv is running 20vt, it is awesome!!! No printout to prove the 200bhp+ output, but hoping for a dyno run in New Year. Ask his co pilot's from the AGM! Jellybelly and ew will give you a fair synopsis! You can drive around quite normal 50-60mph and it's superb, good on fuel, put your foot down and it turns into an animal

My engine was running 318bhp at the flywheel in 2011, it's now going in my mk1 caddy, with a bigger intercooler, and a better flowing exhaust…
Will be getting it remaps at some point too!

My problem would be, I think 200 bhp in a mk1 becomes too much to handle. Touque steer etc…

Why do people quote 400 bhp from their 20vt when they were 150, 180 and 225 bhp
I know you can uprated turbos and management but surely 225 from the TT would be a good choice. With no further mods.

Hmmm I just don't know if it's worth it ?? :|

Im planning a 1.8T in my White Campaign once its done, but i dont want mad BHP just want it 100% reversable so no cable change, just standard 1.8 mfa Rebuilt box with LSD and megasquirt or similar management.

Mines around the 230bhp mark at the moment and if you asked me in the first week or two of driving it I'd have said it was all the power you'd want. But (speaking for myself anyway) you tend to get used to the extra power and next thing you know you've got a bigger turbo and uprated parts sitting in your living room waiting to be bolted on.
As for over 200bhp being too much to handle, its really not. Yes, you have to keep hold of the steering wheel if you burn up through the gears. But your not wrestling to keep it on the road. I am running an lsd which Im sure helps but the car is really easy to live with, so much so that this is the first time in over 4 years that I haven't sorn'd it through the winter. Driving sensibly its quiet and civilized but put your foot down, get on the boost and it goes like stink.
