No doubt a daft question :-)
is is there a correct setting for tightening up the rocker cover, as I don't want to over tighten it and damage the rubber gasket ?
Thanks
Chris

Are you using the cork or rubber gasket?

I've had 3 cork gaskets I think and they still seep so thought I would try a rubber one.

I had the same seepage issues the day before coming to the AGM! The garage opposite me gave me a tip that worked.
Because the cork gasket tends to spring inwards, even if you use gasket sealer either side and effectively stick it to the inside of the cam cover it can still spring inwards a little.
They put a tiny dot of superglue on the very edge of it to hold it in position where it sprang in and hey presto, no more leaks!

with both cork and rubber its a case of do the nuts up till you feel them bottom out, then nip up with mini ratchet or spanner.
the shoulders on the cork studs and metal rings in the rubber gasket prevent you over-tightening the nuts, though if you go mad you could strip the threads.
also make sure the 2 metal spacer strips are fitted as without them you can warp the rocker cover
