So I've brought a mk1 gti it hasn't been MOTd since 2007 so I'm going to full service and change both belts, is there anything else?

Check all the fuel lines, brake lines, brakes, vac pipes.

Replace anything wet; coolant, brake fluid, oil, gearbox oil, even petrol which goes off and washer fluid if its full of gunk.
Engine and fuel filters.
If tyres are cracked or showing signs of perishing I'd replaced them too.
Might be an idea to do minimum and then MOT 1st to make sure its not got major problems before you start spending big £ ?

Totally agree with E1800's comments, personally I'd get it transported to the garage, get the MOT 1st before thinking of driving it. Best of luck to you.
