Cabriolet doors

Hi there all
Just joined the site, my son and I are restoring an 85 cabriolet 1.8 GTI, and have a query on doors. The passenger door is rusted through along the bottom of the skin, though the frame is in pretty good condition. My question is, is it possible to modify a standard 3 door tintop door or skin to fit, or is the shape too different. Finding a good cabriolet door is proving difficult - particularly up North!

Hi,
More trouble than it's worth! 3 door tin top doors are longer.
You should be able to find a cabby door easily though as they made them nearly 10 years longer than the tin top

Pauls got secret stash of parts including windscreen in the north east… I've also got a pair of doors here in the lincoln area. for a cabby.
Rust comes from the inside out, due to people blocking the drain holes in the door, or long term debris entering via scraper.
