HELP RADIATOR FAN!!??

HI everyone, hope your all well I have my Golf mk1 Gti Cab and had it in the garage for some time and got her up and running and the fan has been a botch job of some sort, although I have tracked the wire from the bottom of radiator and on rad switch, one is red that a presume is live and one is brown from what I can see.. Then we have the back of radiator fan motor, 3 wires coming out of it, looking down at it from left to right we have a "Red and black" on left, then a brown in middle and then the botched one on right that is yellow and am sure it was never yellow haha, am guessing black? haha. So please can someone help me with this problem, thanks vw heads!!

Thanks, I hope so, am going to buy a Radiator Fan Switch today and then am going to try re-wiring the fan, as it powers up with a direct live, so am sure its just a matter of re-wire it and replace the Radiator Fan Switch!! Fingers crossed haha.. Any advise will be much appreciated, thanks

On my 86 cab Gti, my wiring is as follows:
Brown wire straight to fan plug
Red wire to fan switch
Red / Black wire from fan switch to fan plug
Red / White wire from fan switch to fan plug

if you're getting a new 3 pin fan switch go for AVS car parts part number 1009590003

Hi RocknRolla, on the back of the fan, looking down at it, what colours the wires from left to right?? From Engine block to battery?? Thanks man!!

Do I need to use thread tape/seal on the cooling sensor switch?? Thanks

The wire colours from left to right are brown, red /white then red / black.
Your new fan switch should come with a copper washer. Be carefull tightening it up as the thread in the radiator is a brass or stainless insert into the plastic body. I used some non setting instant gasket sealant to be sure like hermetite / hylomar red.
