Strut top replacement....

Hi, I've been informed that the gap at top (See photo) means that my top mounts are done?



the car is very crashy at the front end with a knocking noise going over bumps while turning. I just thought it was the rubbish coil overs. Anyway, going to replace the top mounts. is the kit below suitable to use with coil overs? Does it matter if you have a standard setup or coilovers, to which top mounts you buy?

Someone might tell you that they are still fine as I'm no mechanic but they look interesting :-)

You are better with Febi top mounts IMO and u can get them and all the bump stops and covers from funk-star on his classic-vw site on the homepage.

also get 4 new nuts, spring washers and washers from his site when your at it :-)

2 of each except 4 spring washers and message him for 4 normal washers and 4 nuts.


 

If your running coil overs then you have no use for bump stops. Also if you buy budget top mounts you will be replacing in 6 months as the coil overs will kill them. But decent 1st time.
