Mk1 Golf GLI Cab - Steering Wheel
I current have a Wolfsburg steering wheel fitted to my 1982 GLI Cab, it was fitted on the car when I got it.
Can anyone tell me what steering wheel is standard for this model.I have looked at Campaign wheels that the ones that have the GTI letters impressed into the wheel leather/vinyl but as mine is a GLI this just wouldn't look right.
Would appreciate any help on this.
I do like haveing the wolfsburg on but would like to think I had the correct wheel to hand, unless of course it turns out that the wolfburg is the correct wheel, which would be handy because I have a spare one.
Cheers

Thats interesting. The wheel is a genuine Wolfsburg wheel and when I got the car it had VW roundel, (in fact the same roundel thats in the centre of the drive wheels), pushed into the centre of the steering wheel, covering the Wolfsburg logo!!. Guess I need to get a look see at the 4 button with the GTI roundel.
Not sure what the buttons would be for in mine though as all the controls are either on the sticks or dash.
Thanks again.

I would stick with the one you have. Things did differ slightly from the printed brochures here in the UK.

It came with this in 1985
But guess what this one now lives in the loft and I've sourced an early wolfsburg wheel like you've got
I'm all for keeping things original but when you drive a car you spend more time touching / looking att the wheel than anything else apart from out of the windscreen so why change it for something that looks worse
