Roof racks

Anyone know the weight limit for a roof rack on a golf? Common sense would be nothing extremely heavy but be good to know a rough estimate.

Also, anyone know where I can get or how to make the roof rack clips? Finding an original roof rack is rather difficult!

Every time in the 80's and 90's that I took my rabbit to my in-laws I had to buy a set of roof racks to bring things home.  at one time I think I had 4 or 5 sets of
after market racks for my Rabbit.  I don't think I ever put more than 100 Lbs on my after market racks.

And I remember kicking myself in the hiney the first time for not spending the 200 bucks on a Genuine set when I ordered my car in late 1980.
