Outdoor Cover for new sportline

Post

Hello,

So I sold my clipper and have upgraded to a L reg Sportline - 48,000 miles and only 2 owners, one of which was my Uncle. It is completely original and i intend to keep her that way.

I will be keeping her outside for the summer and garaged over the winter. Can anyone recommend me a decent cover as i have heard if you get the wrong one it can cause all sorts of issues…..

Many thanks.

Alasdair

Ive not heard many good stories regarding covers.

If you search the forums there has been several threads on them.

Storm force covers are recommended iirc ??

I know most people rave about the Stormforce ones.
I've had my cabby for 3 years and due to not having a garage it is covered all the time when not in use all year round. I got mine from Halfords and tbh can't fault it.
The only thing I did find after time was the cover had been rubbing on the outside edge of the wing mirrors and had worn some of the paint off. I think the Stormforce ones have pockets for the mirrors. I have however resolved this issue by folding the mirrors back when the cover is on and this is no longer an issue.
I have heard of issues with wear on paintwork from covers (not sure which) but mine is fairly tight and other than the wing mirrors I have no issues. Do bear in mind though all covers will flap about in high winds so if expected use some rope to secure a bit more.

Hi Alasdair,

Firstly where did you find a low mileage L reg, I looked and looked and looked as was exactly what I wanted, is it Red or Black? (if you ever wana sell give me a shout )

also please feel free to add it to the sportline register

With regards the covers I have heard good reports regarding the stormforce ones, but if you can keep it inside as much as you can, I notice a lot of the high end classic car guys just use cotton sheets to cover their cars when in storage, these let the paint breath and also don't sit really close to the body work etc to avoid rubbage

Any pics of the car?

Cheers

I use soft fleece blankets over the winter in the garage.

No scratches and breathable.

Also use this in the passenger footwell for moisture

Yes I've had a number of Stormforce covers and can vouch for them - I use my MK2 Golf cover on my Sportline at the moment!
