Need to know some advice? - Not sure if in the right area

I am changing the engine in my car for another standard 1.8 Carb and was wondering if I need to make anyone aware of this? i.e. DVLA, Police etc ….. I have advised my Insurance company, so just need to know about the rest.

You need to let DVLA know. They might ask for a receipt for the new engine or a bill from the garage that did it, etc but AFAIK its not actually a legal requirement so if you've told them, that's your job done. They don't really need proff anyway, unless its a change of fuel or size to get into a lower tax class.

If its a like-for-like swap then the insurance company don't really need informing. If its different or gains you power, they do.
