There's a set of MK1 'Votex' rear mud flaps for sale on eBay at the minute.
Mud flaps weren't really something I'd have considered fitting but seeing these got me 'Googling' for images and I have to admit (some of them) are growing on me.
Like a lot of things there's probably a mass of different types and fitments but information doesn't seem to be readily available.
So, if you've already got some fitted… Let's see them, maybe you'll help make a new convert!

I have been looking also but not sure of the best way to fit them, im loathed to drill into any metal and wonder if the plastic arches on my tintop GTI will hold screws.

The eBay ones I mentioned before seem to have clamps, not screws… Not sure how confident I'd be that they would stay put specially given their auction value - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221369731114?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Just a thought but would Citi Golf mud flaps be a close match to Cabrio's with the later body kits, might be worth looking into?
The Wolfsburg logo'd items definitely set early Golfs off… I'm guessing they moved to the VW roundal with the introduction of the S2?
As an aside, here's something that puzzles me. Why did VW make the logo white on their own brand rear flaps but left it unpainted on the fronts? Those for MKII's and III's are the same.

I asked my dealer that and the response was when someone is behind you on the road they can only see the rear flaps - sort of makes sense

Ah I really want a set of them. Couldn't justify £100 though! I personally like them, and they help keep everything that bit cleaner you can buy the rally flaps that you cut to shape for cheap, and you could always stick a VW decal on them. Not sure what they would look like though.

Suppose so, though unless you're in the know and realise they're meant to be that way it looks like you've fitted flaps from different sets!

Shame that because on the MK1 I think white logo's all round would have looked better on mine.
But as I can't find any for the big body kit, it doesn't really matter!

Well, talked myself into it and bought a set of front + rears.
Despite what the packaging says the front flaps are physically identical to the rear items (other than not having the logo painted), even down to the moulded in part number… so if you're in the market for some might be worth bearing in mind.

Guy on eBay.de had just the rears up for auction and by chance it turned out he also had the fronts.
There's another set of rears only, active at the moment but not the same guy though.
This seller has them down as MKII items, but the images / part numbers seem to say otherwise…

Certainly looks like it, well spotted. There's only 5 of the 6 clamps pictured also.
