Hey everyone, am new to this forum but just wanted an opinion on a conversion idea that i would love to do eventually, hopefully start within the next year or so. Either a Mk1 or Mk2 golf, not sure whats all exactly different other then the Mk2 being a bit bigger. I also want to convert it to awd to make it more fun in the snowy Canadian winters. I have seen conversions using newer R32 golfs but R32's all seem to be quite expensive. I was thinking maybe it could be possible to use the engine and drivetrain from a Chevy Trax. 1.4L turbo, 138hp, and is 4wd with a slightly longer wheelbase. Not sure if anyone has any other ideas but if possible I would like to stick with a GM engine since I work as a detailer at a GM dealer so I can get parts cheaper, and I am more familiar with these engines.
