Mk1 golf

Post

I got my hands on a mk1 golf convertible 1.8 gti, I was told its a Karmann. I have been trying to find out what makes it a Karmann and what distinguishes karmanns from normal mk1s, as it look no different to other mk1 golfs I've seen of the same age

if anyone can help I will appreciate it

I also have a Nissan 300zx. I'm a paid member to that site so I know what you can get out of a site like this. Just want to see what sort of activity there is before I pay.

I'm also a un paid member to GSXR owners club. Not much happens on that site.

If I get a fair response to the above post I would be tempted to pay the fee.

theres no such thing as a "karmann" edition.

they are just a company that assembled the golf cabriolet for VW (along with a few other cars)

The Mk1 Cabriolet is of unibody construction built entirely at the factory of Karmann, from stamping to final assembly; Volkswagen supplied the engine, suspension, interior, etc. for Karmann to install.

It wont be any different to any other MK1 GOlf Cabby of the age (except for trim/spec :) )

Mine has cream leather (see project thread below). Not sure if it was standard or not though.
