Mk1 Campaign v series1

Hi quite new to the forum so apologies if this subject has been done to death (Did try a search)

Wondering peoples opinion, Assuming both cars are generally sound and are similar money what would you choose between a Mk1 campaign and a series1 with the small rear lights, both being GTi?

I do like the campaigns, but would the series1 be a better longer term buy being rarer?
There isn't really any series1 gtis out there to gauge a value above a campaign.
Also how does the 1.6 compare to the 1.8? much difference.

I am potentially going to look at both at the weekend and will assess both cars, but was just wondering others opinions?
 

For me it would be a series 1 any day, I think they look better and that the interiors are far better too....

yeah series 1 for me too, but with all the wiring ripped out and redone as the fuseboxes on them are awful

the best advice i can give is buy on condition rather than spec. buy the best condition you can afford.

the investment bit is not as certain either as s1's do require more work (generally speaking) to get them reliable.

Series 1s are lovely and would have one all day long - but a series 2 in great condition (like mine-sorry couldn't resist ) is still as much of a lovely car with more torque and is how pretty much the mk1 finished !

Decided to only look at the Campaign.
Not a bad car but felt the asking price (Just under 6K) was too much for what it was.

The search continues, not looking for a campaign specifically, just the right car.

i'd like a series one to go with the Campaign Inari Silver would be nice!
