Mission to find brake " clips " succeeded !

Funny old world.

Back in the day we used to have corner store type shops where we knew they had boxes of random little parts and the old guy behind the counter was the only one who knew where they were.

They have disappeared somewhat, let's blame the internet.

So me and my mate had broken three out of four of those springy metal strip things that go between the rubber and " copper " lines of the rear brakes. ( 1986 cabrio )

First car supply shop " nope ".

Second, a VW dealer with workplace pointed us in the direction of some website / shop, by the name think it was in Eastern Europe.

So my mate says to check out another VW shop, which has moved into a rather large complex / car park type arrangement, Porsche next door etc.

We walk into the garage part, covered in dirt and grease, not expecting much luck as this was a lease / sales type place.

The first mechanic we see points us in the direction of the sales room, the guy behind the counter strolls through the " blueprints ", till he identifies the part we need.

" Do you need them today ? "

" Yes "

" Then pop over to the AUDI dealer across the way there "

Bingo, the AUDI shop had exactly four clips, just what we needed.

According to the AUDI man those clips are still being used on AUDI's up to the A8, which costs like 100,000 quid, don't know if he was joking.

All in all a very pleasant experience, and a result. Thank you to all those that helped us, all for four clips costing less than a quid each.

I know what you mean. I was looking for a rear beam bolt and all the bolt sellers had nothing.

In the end I tried the same as you and went around all the local car dealerships looking for something. ended up with one from a Jag in the end. Most of the 'parts' guys were useless but the Jag guy was very helpful. Didn't even charge me for it

Luckily my local motor factors have got to know me and now realise that it isn't going to be a quick hunt as I don't have a registration number for the car. I let them serve normal people and then we'll spend an hour looking for the bits I need
