As I'm looking to buy a MK1 I've been trawling the classifieds and have found a lot of a Nice Golf GX's for sale
Is there a reason for this?
Also is a CL a common Golf?

I don't know how many there are around, so I'll leave that to the experts.

But if it's a nice straight, honest Mk1 then go for it!

Is it for sale on here and if not tell us a bit about it if you're unsure.  :)

I wonder if because they were a run out edition and well spec'd and I may guess expensive, they probably attracting an older customer base than the GTI or cheaper Driver or CL and so may have done less miles or been better looked after in its earlier years.

Its because the GX, like the so called "Campaign" is not rare but still over valued for what is essentially a few optional extras.

Thanks for all the help!
Just out of interest, what extras did it have over say a C or CL model?

But yeah the cars not on here it's on a Facebook group, however I just found out it's a 1.5, so considering my 1.3 MK2 is already 2500 to insure, I doubt it would be a viable option…
The CL is just a neat little Mars Red, so it's common colour and 5 door, therefore it's low priced,  but seems a good starting point

The Green GX is a lovely colour though!

To my knowledge the bumpers are grey, and have chrome trim.

The seats are similar to GTI spec just a diff colour.

Engine size only available in 1.5

Where is the best place to be looking for a MK1?
Looking on eBay, Gumtree, Facebook etc. isn't turning up much…

All of the above but you have to be patient that's all.
I live in Austria and it took me three years to find what I was looking for!

Keep hitting this Club up as it's the biggest of them all by far. If you buy from here you will know what you're getting.

Yeah patience is the answer then!
I'd prefer if I bought one from on here too, but no 1.1/1.3's for sale so I guess I just wait…

I had a GX this year and they are great cars. Grey is a wicked colour for them.

That's lovely!
I got offered a silver 73K GX for 1500!
But I couldn't get insured on a 1.5 at 17…

Ive had a 1.6 mk1, 1.6 mk2, and a 1.5 Mk1 GX all at the age of 17. The GX was actually by far the cheapest, and its mega cheap on tax too! Make sure you shop around for your insurance. Ive turned 18 a couple of months ago and i find aviva very good for me. Almost 1k cheaper then what a comparison site offered me.
