Instrument colour on mk1 golf

Post

Hi all, stupid question unless you're me- 1000 miles from my mk1, and haven't driven one at night for 20 years :-)

What colour are the instruments lit at night? I think green but want to check! Thanks :-)

Yes it was Greenish tint, the issue is that after a few years that green tinted plastic clouds up and it gets dimmer and dimmer and dimmer…..

What I have done on mine it to take the Light cover off the cluster, and remove the green tinted plastic.

I upgraded the lights in it to 3 watt incandescents by using sockets from a Honda, and the warming lamps.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

It's green from the factory and very poor.
Some members have either upgraded them or bought night vision glasses! 😂👍🏼

I live with them the way they are but then I don't drive much at night in mine. 😉

Factory green was always the perfect look inside a mk1. There's a strong possibility that LEDs could be used. Would love to see a before and after look.
