Has any one retrimmed their 3door GTi seats in the petrol striped fabric from heritage or any other company? Also did you make your own bolsters to repair old damaged ones or buy new? Cheers

There a how to refurb in the how to section.
Iirc tin top seats can have the separate side bolsters which you can swap out.
Later ones especially in Cabs and MK2 are all one piece cushion.
If you got a good sewing machine go for it.
I’m not sure about the cloth from heritage as not used it.

Someone said that some of the after market fabrics aren't the same as the original ones ie different colour slightly and sometimes different size stripes if anyone has any experience?

The stripes aren't a perfect match on the S2 material. on the front seat base you end up with a load of black showing on the front corners which gives the seat a narrower look. Also, I had my S1 Gti seats refurbished in the tartan trim and I have to say I question the longevity of the material. it started to bobble after only a couple of thousand miles.
Look on the heritage website at 171881006 you can see how thin the outer most stripe is when compared to an original seat.

I've found this website from another thread on here,
https://westtrading.nl/autobekleding/stoelbekleding/p4942
Wondered if there's was a better quality/match if anyone's ordered from there?

It all comes from the same place and youd have to buy a whole roll from West trading.Colley27 said

I thought westrading was NOS and not repro?
I’ve seen a few Chinese sites doing later Golf material.
Not sure about elsewhere now.
I had a few seat material Suppliers saved on my old lap top.
But hard drive failed.
I might have them else where, though as I sent some links to my trimmer mate.

How bad are your seats and is the striped part damaged or just the black?
I had my drivers set re-trimmed just over a year ago because the bolster had worn in the usual place but also the bolster on the base had collapsed, which led to the black fabric wearing through. I bought new foam base bolsters and the centre section for the base from Newton commercial.I had a local upholsterer do the work and he advised to make sure that any foam was injection molded otherwise it wouldn't last very long. Mine has red striped seats and the red bits were ok so I bought the black fabric from VWH. The upholsterer unstictched the old black cloth and stitched in the new to the original red. The black is slightly different but only noticable because I know it's been done, it certainly doesn't stand out. He also told me that the original seats have a white cloth underneath which prevents the foam and the covering wearing each other, he replaced it with a headlining material.
It might be worth trying to source another seat if you need the striped cloth as well.
Be prepared to dig deep mind, my drivers seat alone cost over £400! I'll try and dig out some pics of mine!

I'm looking to get some GTi seats but everyone I've seen have damage to them or rediculous money so I was edging towards just getting a set retrimmed to have them looking new and fresh. Appreciate your help

Full set of seats front and rear is about £1200 to get retrimmed professionally in the period material. Thats why people are asking big bucks for second hand ones in good condition.

What would you price a decent set of front and back black/white stripe seats up at? Also what would a set of green stripes be? Just so I have an idea whilst looking. Cheers

I'm not sure on the real values as everything nowadays seems to have a scene tax applied. There's a set of seats with the green stripes near me for £500 on the Facebook selling page that look to be in similar condition to mine before I had the drivers seat repaired so the drivers seat would need similar to mine to get it sorted.
They have been for sale for a little while so I would say they might be a little over priced but not hugely.
