Full length scuttle covers - Group buy?

Post

Hi all, whats peoples thought on the below? I was looking in to getting a new scuttle cover and came across these which I thought were a good idea as the side pods where the water normally drains can be fully waxoiled then and covered up out of sight to prevent them rusting and looking grimey as I normally find these areas hard to clean and keep clean and its extra protection for heater and wiper motor and also comes with new rubbers and clips.

Emailed the guy and said if we can get enough interest he could do free shipping. Thoughts are put your name down on here, if enough intrest I will get your paypal email ( via PM) the guy can then invoice us individually to keep it easy for everyone and plus you are covered via paypal as well then!

Whats peoples thoughts think a normal scuttle cover is about £25 delivered these days!!

Full length scuttle covers - Group buy?

Problem is unless your an engine detail lover and have the bonnet open a lot maybe at shows etc then there’s not much point in spending quadruple the price of a normal one.  There’s better things to spend £125.00 on.
Although I like them I don’t like the price.

Yes I must admit I did think the price was a bit steep hence my email to him to see what he could do. Not sure what his costs are but the free delivery was what he offered. I just liked the idea it covered the side pods up as i hate cleaning them and trying to keep them clean... they are real dirt traps!! Have sent seller a link to this post so they can guage interest. His advert seems to suggest they were very popular for the mk2?

2 problems I can see with having a full cover over that part of the car is where will the rain go that comes through the vents in the bonnet? Will it just sit in the plastic cover?

You won't be getting any cold air into your heater blower as it comes through the vent in the bonnet and Whole scuttle area is covered?  O_o

Rain drains out by the bonnet hinges as I asked that and also thought about the electric washer and hose so would need a small hole drilling for that. Never thoughts about the cold air however!

1. Do not plug your Rain drains, they are there for a reason and that is to shed water away from the Fuse Panel and Motors and Such.

If the water runs out the hinges, and then in to the rain tray will plugged off drains it is gonna sit there and Build up until it flows into the Cabin and or heater blower then into the Cabin.  Causing you one Heck of an electrical repair if the fuse box gets flooded.

2. If you have a Cabriolet or a Golf you can run your Windshield hoses up at the corners of the Bonnet and through the frame. I have a how to on that I think.

3. Reducing the flow of air over the heater fan motor is going to allow Engine compartment air to enter the cabin without dilution, and that could lead to co2 issues if you have a leaky exhaust.

4. Sure they are Pretty, but as Chortle said that is pretty pricey, and I would rather spend it on a good bottle of Irish Whiskey (your choice of libation).

5. If you get a "A/C" type of water Divertor that is longer than the non-"A/C" type.

I just bought a new "A/C" one and it was 75 dollars shipped to me.  I would imagine it would be the same cost to you over there to have it shipped.

New scuttle tray in the rear and my old one in front.  One of my Cabbies Rain tray divertor decided on giving up the ghost…. So my Blue got new and the Green one got the old blue one.

I did eye these up but the price put me off.
Im not fussed about the rain side of things because I dont use the car in the wet and its covered but it could be an issue when cleaning.

At £60 I'd be interested but I cant help but think that "scene tax" has been applied here

Swg tuning  sell these, I was going to get one for my cabby . But I also thought it was way overpriced even though it does make under the bonnet look tidy
