Hey guys n girls.
Have a question about the front wiper motor mount.
My golf came with the rain tray removed but the mount for the wiper motor still in place. It looks terrible and I'm midway through cleaning up the engine bay. So I wondered, to the people without a rain tray, what does yours look like? How have you got round it?
Hope that makes sense.

use a mk3 golf wiper motor mate, mounts to the mechanism on the mk3 unlike the mk1, which means you can cut the mount off on your mk1 as you won't need it. motor fits the same way and works fine, got one myself. (still have rain tray tho)
Plug to the motor is different but if you get one with the plug and bit of loom you can easily splice the correct wires to your existing loom (pretty sure could be same colours but can't exactly remember). plenty of threads on here about it tho

so i need a wiper motor, plug and length of lead from a mk3? and the original mk1 wiper linkage? the motor will bolt to the linkage and there will be no need for the support in the engine bay?

Yeah exactly that, my wipers worked fine without the mount
The mk1 motor will work fine tho but will look better with mk2 or mk3 motor (as above). Nice upgrade too with the mk3 one
