Croatian mk1's

I have a tendancy to take lots of photos of old cars whenever I go on holiday - my girlfriend really loves this hobby
Here are some pics from our trip to Croatia this summer. mk1's are still plentiful there (many are white for some reason?) and I'd go as far to say 1 in every 4 cars is either a mk1 or mk2 Golf  8)
Also, quite a few still had their original chrome bumpers!  8O Also included an Audi 80 and a rare lhasa green mk2

How come we don't have as many like they do in this country.  But i suppose if we had to many it wouldn't be the same.

some of those look really cool man, and i think if they were that popular over here, they wouldnt be such a novelty.

Good pics there Jon.  We get a few Croats on here now and again.  Mainly through http://www.vwclubcroatia.com/  Check it out, some excellent cars on there.

Where abouts did you go?  Had a tour round there a couple of summers ago.  Great place, but you can still see a lot of the conflict remains about :(

Cheers folks. ew - We stayed at Orebic, not far from Dubrovnik. We hired a car and drove through Bosnia into Split, had a fantastic time. You're right, there are plenty of reminders of Croatia's past - one was a huge factory in a small coastal town called Dugi Rat that I'm told had been bombed and was left as a constant reminder of the conflicts.  :(  Bizarrely, it was right next to a popular beach - a very surreal backdrop to a swim indeed!

Here are a few more mk1's
