:o oh dear, what's happened there…. I'm surprised they can see out the front window with all that gunk screwed into the dash board…

It's a lesson in "how to de-value your car.."

How do you adjust or use the heater controls as I can't see any,  is that why those vents are on the dash but wont be any good to de-mist your windscreen…

Got all excited for a minute, thought it was a black edition.

Is there anyway of seeing what the final price is?

I'm presuming it will be on their results page in a few days/next week. If it's anything like other online versions of 'real' auctions half the stuff won't sell.

Needs a new hood and the tabs for the hood cover are in the wrong place.
The rear lip looks wavy denotes a rusty rear cable channel under there and the side trims for the hood cover are wonky.
That indicates that there’s rust under there also.

I saw the humps in the top, was it designed for a Camel?  One hump or 2.

Then reading this.
Four previous keepers and 61,500 miles from new
Original order form, service book and first MOT certificate on file
Supplied new by Dovercourt VW to Miss Madeleine Delves of John St. Clair Films Ltd, London W1 who kept it for over twenty years
Updated dashboard, steering wheel and pedals but the originally steering wheel comes with the car

So I imagine one of the 3 newer owners, as in probably the last one modded the dash…. But this isn't the worst case I have seen… I saw one where a guy in Mexico cutted up his dash to but a 13" LCD panel in it where the glove box went.

That was one UUUUUUUUUG as in 9 "U" award winner for Ugly. or UUUUUUUUUGly.

Yeah, right.

I think he got mugged in Halfords and they made him take all the left over junk they couldn't sell.

Really, I reversing camera and massive fixed screen on a mk1!? How bad at parking can you be.

I like the 2 fire extinguishers. After all if the first doesn't put it out then I'm all for for returning to the car for the second one. Although with all that rubbish wired in and with the extra power sockets I suppose an electrical fire is just around the corner.

Have the lower seat bolster been re-trimmed too?

If it’s the original hood I’d doubt the rest has been changed either after 30 years the padding falls apart the interliner rots away.
The headliner goes yellow etc
Whether the rear window frame is any good is anyone’s guessing

Yes think seat bolsters have been repaired, mine had gone there on outer drivers seat but I managed to find a good passenger seat to swap. I think the black vinyl/leather is a reasonable repair really.

Bit weird someone likes old cars/MK1s and found a nice low mileage one and then tried to turn into a modern car festooned with electronicy I'm surprised he didn't follow thru with 21 inch chrome plated alloys and neon LEDs underneath.

This thread was brought to you by the hilarity of folks that have grown up on the Movies The Fast and Furious 1-97, and think that they can make a super fast car by placing spurious things that have no added value on the car other than to make it appear Fast……The Furious part is that they don't improve the design, they cheapened it.

You can't make a slik purse out of a sows ear, and you can't make a race car out of placing things in the interior.
It did have an ohh, and awe effect however, as in ohhh how stupid, and Awe now I have to buy a new dash…

All his monies was spent on bling bling, and to his engine he didn't do a thing thing.

Interesting.

Mileage either makes a huge difference or where you are in the lots does…….
