1.3 Exhaust Upgrades?

Hi all, spoke to another mk1 owner at a meet but never got his contact details. he said he was running a polo manifold and a GTI system on his 1.3. it sounded a world above my current setup. just wondering if anyone can shed some light about what exactly he may be running and what my options are? ive read up on a few old threads from 5/6/7 years back discussing a similar topic but couldnt get a straight answer!

You can basically use any older polo exhaust stuff. I have a polo g40 exhaust manifold and downpipe (need to sell it actually) which would be an upgrade but I found an Ashley 4-2-1 manfiold for sale so went with that. Its a mild steel system and i would have preferred stainless but cant find any off the shelf.

As for the system, I didnt want anything loud and boy racerish so I went with a 2" jetex system and it is perfect, it sounds nice but doesnt drone at all. Only issue is that I had to weld in some pipe with a flexi joint to meet it up with the 4-2-1 manifold. Also, the exhaust tip looks terrible on them so I cut it off and just put some stainless pipe on the end.
This is the only image i have of my exhaust tip but can put some better pics of the system if you want

The manifold paint does seem to be coming off and turning white but Im going to take it off at some point and paint it properly
