Whats the best way to underseal the Golf?

Post

I am looking at undersealing and protecting the car with some kind of rubberized product like what was originally used on the car. There is nothing that is loose so was thinking just giving it a jetwash then recoating it when dry. The only bit of rust I can see is where the jacking points are. I plan to grind off the surface rust and use a rust remedy. I am not looking to spray the underside of my car in a paint colour as this is not a show car. Just want it well protected. The guy at my garage said Schultz is a good product. Is this rubberised and will I need to use wax oil on top of it. Looking forward to any advise. Want to buy the best product for my situation. Thanks

Have a look at the products from the FROST catalogue, such as the Dynax products and Bilt Hamber rust prevention/cure, I've used the Dynax S-50 on my cabby which as been used sun/rain or shine, salty roads etc for 5 years. Really good product and can be sprayed with a water sprayer.

This is good to neutralise and existing rust.Just get rid of as much as you can with a rotary wire brush on an angle grinder first:

Then use this stuff.Wax based black coating in a large aerosol with a good spray  pattern.2 or 3 cans will do it.Stinks if you get it on the exhaust though:

Shop around for the Tectyl. My local factor does them for just over seven quid.

sounds like hes telling you to stone chip it, thats what would be on from the factory, if it is rust free and your keeping it one of the other suggestions above are worth looking into.

The Valvoline stuff contains wax.Stone chip is a nice finish but its really only a thick rubberised paint that can chip off.
IMHO anyway.

Hello everyon  ,

I am in search of the best rust-proofing product to effectively treat my metal objects. Having used the product rust converter, I am wondering if there are other options that are more effective.

Today, I am reaching out to you to gather your recommendations. What are the most effective rust-proofing products you have used? Which ones would you recommend in terms of rust prevention and treatment?

Your experiences and advice would be greatly valued. Thank you in advance for your contribution!

Best regards,

Well for me it was Driving my car over a freshly oiled road at 55 mph. That road oil covered everything where rain spray would go.  I waited about a week before using Diesel to take the road oil off of the Side panels of my car.  It never ever rusted for the next 20 years, and that was after I sprayed Undercoat all over the bottom of the car, about 6 Rattle cans worth.  After that I have never sprayed the under side again, but I live in a no rust zone for the last 3.5 decades.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
