What's the best reaction to your mk1 from fellow drivers?

Post

I thought I would start this thread, as my mk1 gets quite a bit of attention from fellow drivers.  This morning was good.  I was driving through Bournemouth, when an Audi TT sped up behind me on a stretch of Dual Carriageway.  It then started to undertake me.  I looked over to give it the full on evils, when I realised it was a very attractive girl grinning with her thumb up…  Made my day!

I always get a good response from other car drivers I always seem to be let out at junctions and so on,but to be honest I got more attention when I had my cabby than I do now with my tin top.

The offers to buy it amaze me.

An older Gentleman stopped when the Cabby was parked at the side of the road. I asked what was up and he said he was just admiring the golf. He then asked if it was for sale. to which I replied 'Everythings for sale for the right price'. He offered me 2K  :o

And I turned it down  :P

Not a bad potential profit for an MOT failed 400quid wreck really.

I once parked my mk1 in a residents only space, so I could go into a nearby shop.  I got back to the car and there was a traffic warden stood in front of it taking a picture.  I thought he was taking the picture as proof of the illegal parking.  It seems his mate is into mk1s and he was sending him the picture.  I had a chat with the Traffic warden about the car and he let me off the ticket.  Nice!

Name your price!
That happened to me twice last summer and they were both Austrians with very expensive cars and Wives from what I could tell.

And cue the hate mail. Or other gems like the best reaction I had whilst driving my cabriolet was someone stopping to ask me which hair salon I worked at...

That's it I'm off to search ebay for curlers in a plastic crate and old hairdryers to stick in the boot for shows.

That and come up with some sort of design for the doors that advertises:
'Doris' Hair Salon' - "Blue rinses a speciality"

;)

How about, "I can cut your top off and I'll give you some real style!" call "Cabby".
Just a thought!
