Mk1 Golf track car Questions.

Got a few questions about a mk1 track car with a vag 1.8t engine in it.

Ive got an S3 at the moment but wanting to get rid and buy something smaller and lighter but still turbo and not as rough on the pocket if I bin it. And I've stumbled upon you lot :D. Is there anyone running any high-ish power in a mk1? (270-290 just before rods need doing) Also is the torque steer out of control? Is there big enough break set up available?

You've pretty much described my car there…..290bhp and torque steer out of control!!! If not driven with 'respect'. Lol. Mines not a track car though, its my summer daily driver but i have done bits on track.

What's the wheel spin like?  Also what brakes are you using?

Wheel spin in the first two gears is available on demand, 3rd and sometimes 4th in the wet, but I try not to treat the throttle like an on/off switch so it's not too bad plus the way my car is mapped helps. It's half the fun controlling the power!
Brake wise I use g60 280mm fronts with ferrado 2500 pads, polo gti rears and 16v servo/MC. They have been great until the Nurburgring where I set them on fire….lol
