Replacement Brake Servo Unit

Post

Hi.
My Mk1 Golf of 20 years is off of the road with a failed brake servo unit. Vaccuum hose and valves OK.   Probably a perforated diaphragm. Part Number (from the old unit) 172612105M

Any advice on how or where to look for a replacement in UK.   Difficult to  search easily from 8000 miles away in the middle of a rural area.  N.B. Payments would be from UK and delivery would be to UK.  My problem to get someone to bring it to Zimbabwe.

This doesn't look like a serviceable unit (sealed) and I'm not sure how one would check that a unit from a breakers would still function.  A long way to transport a 'lemon'  So I guess it would have to be new.

Best regards,

Geoff Laver

I don't think that anyone sells them new anymore.

Best bet is to look for a breakers or eBay - one that gives you a warranty on the unit.

A lot of people change to the later mk2 16V 9" servo and 22mm master cylinder - there is a guide here:
