Welcome to the club first of all!

Well I've got sad news for you I'm afraid.
The car has not been on the road since the 1st of March 1994! O_o

Looks like your going to have to choose another one and fall in love with that.

You can check online via the DVLA

Ahh yes I already checked this out!…. But does this mean it doesn't exist anymore? Wouldn't mind restoring it if it's out there ! Ÿ~

Welcome aboard,
There is the register on here to sift through.
You never know it may be tucked up in someone's garage…??

Hi chortle
What do you mean by register to sift through?

And yes that's what I'm hoping for! :)

If it had just been taken off road and stored somewhere it should be showing as Sorn'd - the only way if it's still around would be if DVLA can't track the owner to fine them for not declaring Sorn or taxing it.

So pretty much 99% it's been scrapped I am afraid.

If it wasn't taxed at the point SORN became law then it can still be out there unsorn which I don't think is illegal.
Just imagine all the cars that got scrapped over the years but were never declared as scrapped.
Once you have either taxed or Sorn it since then either must continue.
 :offtopic:
I've got a MK1 stashed which has been off the road since 1998. In my name but never been sorned.
I'm sure I read that if you have a vehicle SORN for more than five years you can now remove the number plate off it to put on another vehicle. Before it had to be MOT'd and taxed.
They've also changed if you have a number plate on retention. Before it was 25 per year to renew. Now its free and the certificate lasts for  10 years.

Chances of it being out there are slim mind. I've never done it myself but I believe you can contact DVLA and they will tell you the last recorded keeper for a small fee.
