MK1 1.3GL Golf

Hey, wondering if any one has any ideas…

I have 1983 1.3GL MK1 golf that's cutting out at speed and just rolling to a stop, she'll start up again and you might get 5 mile or 500 yards and the same thing happens.
Been through the fuel lines and tank - all clear, had new coil, plugs, distributor, leads etc… The carb has been stripped and rebuilt, still no joy.
When she runs she runs sweet as, just no reliabilty…

This happened to me on my Mk2 16v. That turned out to be the distributor breaking down. It failed when it got hot and then was ok for a while once it had cooled down. Don't know if it's the same for a carbed mk1 though…….

Had the Distributor rebuilt a couple of weeks ago, not easy to get hold of!!! Everything was running fine for around 250 miles, no problems and then cutting out again - I do have another Distributor which I may get rebuilt and try again…
