It is difficult to tell from the photographs but it does look very tidy and the same as any car it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
With this one possibly being the last to be registered then the seller could expect someone would want to pay a premium to own this car and if I were in the market for another one. It would certainly sway me towards paying more for it.
Making the engine bay look tiddley is the easy part in terms of what it would cost. The main issue is the bodywork, interior and structure that would cost you the money to put right.  ….. if all that is OK it come s with an MOT the body panels are straight it drives OK HPI clear no signs of accident damage repair …totally original… for 6k?? personally I would have his hand off!
It is not far from me at all, however I am not in the UK until the 8th October otherwise I would go and have a look at it. I don't think it will still be around then somehow
We have an agreed valuation of 10.5k with our insurance for my wife's Sport-line. 101k 1991 with a few modifications.

Full set of Sportline seats and door cards, you can reckon on 800 to 1,000 pounds in A1 condition.
I've seen just the 2 front seats make 500!

Your taking a six grand plus gamble, so you better be 100% sure.

Buy on knowledge not emotion.
As emotion can be costly!  O_o

Good luck and let us know how it goes and take lots of pictures as well. Even if you don't buy it straight away.
Not just long wide shots either.
Inside, outside, under bonnet, inside boot and underneath!

Then you can post them up and we can give you a better idea of the value.

oldschool71  For £6k I'd expect it to be pretty much mint.

I recently sold mine for £5k and there was nowt wrong with it - had a lot of work done to it to. All the pics and info are still on my site so take a look at the link, it may give you a good gauge on pricing - http://www.yesterdayscars.co.uk/available-cars/mk1-golf-convertible/

Although this was advertised on my business site, it was a private sale of my own car and priced that way.

Good luck with your search ;)

Some one may be able to help you out with an idea as to what can be done to restore the faded interior.
If you know someone who is a mechanic or one of the chaps on here may be able to go with you if you ask. If it is as good as he says in the ad and it is the last one to be registered then.

Ive tried to help out the owner of this sportline with his sale. To my knowledge and looking at the register of sportlines - this is the latest recorded registration date for a Mk1 Golf GTI Sportline to have passed by me and my website. That's not to say there is another with a later registration date.

There is even supposed to be one registered in 1994 but hasn't surfaced passed me yet.

I guess you may need to go and look at it and drive it of course. It looks a tidy motor.

If I can help of course drop me a pt.

I am on my way back to blightey (if this chopper ever turns up this morning) I notice it is still on piston-heads. I may go and have a look as it is only about 15 miles from me. If it as good as he says I may be tempted as an investment to keep original.  I have often thought if I were to buy another I would go for a black one or a blue rivage or a lahsa green campaign. I will let you know of I go but having been away at work for almost 10 weeks my missus has a list as long as your arm of things I have to do.

Bet we can guess one of the first ones on the list!   :$
Good luck 🍀 With that, the list and the car .

Most importantly is have a safe trip back Home 🏡

I had a Lhasa Green campaign about 18 years ago with the intention of getting it back to a mint. I bought it from a mate for £400 who had it in the garage for about 3 years and then I had it sitting in my barn for about a 2 year's untouched. I sold it as I did not have the time to do anything with it due to work commitments and gave the money tot he missus to buy some diamond earrings in Dubai as we were just about to go there.  It was going to be my wife's run around…wish I had kept it!!!!
Before I bought her current sport-line I was going to buy her a TT convertible. She was carrying our daughter at he time and pointed out that a tt would be useless with a baby and if I wanted to buy her a car for her birthday I needed to get her a MK1 the same colour as the campaign but a convertible!!!
Think I am going to take a run up to have a look at he sport-line tomorrow. I will post some pictures and give you my opinion on whether or not it is  worth 6K
