Hi,
My mk1 cab is gold and I plan 100% on changing the colour, I really don't like it.
We've got our own body shop so I can pretty much choose any colour I want. So far I'm on carbon steel (vw) or the red from the later gti… can't remember the name.
I'd like to stay with a vw colour. If you were changing the colour would you stick to something sensible or pick something a bit different? So many people are surprised I'm staying with a normal colour. I think it's quite difficult to pick an odd colour on a cabriolet and get it right.
What are your opinions?

Stay within the range of Vw colours...we ve already made a statement by owning one of these cars. Good luck in whatever you do.

It's your car, to change or not to change that is your question.
If you are happy with it then the others opinions don't matter.
why ask for a wrath of no's or this's….
No ones opinion matters in this case as it is all yours.
Do with it with what you want….

Opinions on colour changing
My only advise is to choose the roof and interior colour you really like and make sure the paint colour matches / compliments it. No point having a bright pink car with orange leather seats.
My other personal hate it when colour change is half done. For me if you do it then it should be full strip down and change. I am a bit weird that when I pull up a carpet and see a different colour floor / overspray etc I feel a little cheated. I agonised about changing mine to Lasha green when having it painted but could not let myself do it as I had not removed the dash or engine.
But others are correct on one thing. Colour choice is yours as you have to both look at it and be seen in it.

Yes it's getting done properly inside and out 👍 we have a lot of customers that change colour only on the outside. It does get expensive and ripping an interior out fully is hard work, so I understand why they don't do it. I love it when a car arrives already stripped bare!!

I was in exactly the same boat with my mk1 rocco, it was gold and I couldn't stand it, it needed a resto and had a full body respray in VW Tornado red, I love it but have since seen one in original Gold that was mint and tastefully lowered on really nice rims, small part of me wishes I'd redone it Gold and gone with chocolate brown interior and detailed the 16v lump with black and chrome, overall happy with my choice, I totally agree with previous comments, do what YOU feel is right for the car, and trawl the web to get plenty of ideas for interior and engine bay to match 👍

I've seen a few immaculate gold cabbys and sometimes I get tempted to keep it original. If it didn't need so much work I think I might have lived with it, but there's so much panel/interior work to do now 🙁
I've got some nice Audi TT front seats and getting the back trimmed to match and going with a black roof. I'll change my mind on colour so many times in the next few month though.
