Mk1 gti Helios blue?

Hello,

I was wondering whether the gti mk1 Helios blue has a premium over the other colours? If so why?

Never really noticed it does, always down to personal taste I think.  For me it's a colour which never really seems to look pristine even when professionally detailed. Lacks that last bit of wow factor for me along with Diamond Silver.

Some will covert it as being a colour on Uk Spec cars anyway of being just for the Campaign, but was available on other MK1s in Europe.  Several other VWs had the colour as well in Uk.

Thanks for your reply Richard…but are they not one of the rarest colours for the mk1 gti campaign? And in terms of future value will it not have an effect?

There seems to be a sliding scale. 
From my observations the top is mars red then black.
Next possibly met green followed by white etc…

But to be honest it's the condition of the paint and the car that counts in my book.

I think that Mars red is the iconic colour that you associate a gti with so will always be one of the most popular colours for a mk1. I've had the pleasure in owning both  red and black mk1's and loved them but always thought that the Mars red needed to be super clean and always polished/waxed in order to look stunning (which in hindsight is what we should all be doing with our mk1s!). And when it came to black mk1s I thought they needed new paint to keep up with all the modern cars paintwork if that makes sense?

I currently own a Helios blue mk1 and it's the colour I've always wanted for years. I absolutely love it and doubt I will ever sell it I'm that happy with it! 

I don't agree with the earlier comment that it doesn't match up to other colours when detailed as I've seen some stunning Helios mk1s about and mine is great for paintwork that is decades old! 

Personally I don't even think the colours is what makes mk1s more valuable. Its do with the quality of the paintwork and lots of other factors.

What I'm trying to say is Mk1s in general will continue to increase in value regardless if they are red, black or blue!!

Yes I think they are worth more as they are the rarest of the regular colours and demand is high.

I also agree, its a rare colour along with the grey one….is it atlas grey?

A freshly sprayed helios blue finish is awesome imo.

And there's at least three shades of Helios blue…..
As I found out wheninr went for paint on the wing and came back different to the rest of the car.
Talking to the paint specialists they informed me it was Helios blue, but the wrong shade….
