Mk1 Golf GTI cabriolet valuation advice please.

Appologies if i have put this topic in the wrong place but i am need of some advice. I am considering putting my Mk1 Golf GTI cabriolet (Snowy) up for sale and i believe it is an absolute cracker that should demand a premium.

I have owned Snowy for some 5 or so years and have treasured it every day of ownership. It is a white 1990 8v GTI with 68,200 miles, has an extensive and detailed service history and is in absolutely fanstastic condition. It would need to be seen to be fully apprecitated.  A sure tell tale of the condition of this car is the original white GTI fabric interior that is original and spotless (an absolute pain in the butt to keep clean but worth every minute of care). Snowy has not been heavily modified but had some alterations to make her more enjoyable to use. These being; Power steering professionally fitted, cobra central locking/alarm system and coil overs.

Snowy has had a roof over her head every night(apart from the odd summers night) since day one and she even made our wedding day even more special by driving my wife to the wedding venue.

If you have any advice or experience on how much you think she would could you please contact me.

Well your question is how long is a piece of string really

Saying that 68k with full history, as good as you say it is

I would stick my neck out and say around £9,000

For a quick sale expect about 7,000

Lowering and coilover suspension devalue it slightly in my opinion. People now want as it rolled out of the factory

I sold my mint GTI last October which I will probably live to regret….. £4800

I will probably put it up for sale soon as summer is fast approaching and consider your advice. But also thinking about the fact you regret the sale of yours.

That kind of money you’re into the more collectible cars such as the sportline and Rivage models.
It’s good that it has low miles and service history.
But other factors come into play.
Whilst your opinion on what is good condition may not be the same as someone else.
For example what needs doing to it?
What are the seats like drivers bolster, carpet wear?
When was it fitted with a new roof?
Often you need to put yourself in the mind of a buyer.
I went to look at a car for my Mrs.
Been painted (badly) it was a one owner lady from new.
But the rear window frame was rotted, the water let in rotted the parcel shelf, the headliner beyond cleaning and had a tear on it. The roof had shrunk and was splitting.
The seller wanted £5.5k.
But with a grand spend plus on making the roof as it should be then re doing the paint you’d never get market value.

So pop up some photos and that gives a better idea of condition.

That's assuming the car is pretty mint, someone will pay it

When was the last time you saw a mint cabriolet GTi with full service history @68k?

Cabriolet GTIs are disappearing very fast so good un's are worth the premium
