Is this manual ok for my car?

I was wondering if this manual is any good for my '89 golf cabriolet. I know it says cabriolet up to '85 but I'm unsure if theres much difference?

It will cover most of it I believe but in addition try to get the from 'Bentley', that will cover the big engine injection system as well.

The two together will be enough!  

brown mk1 haynes is as good as if not better than the bentley

Thanks guys. Because i got this one for cheap i think il stick to this, as the bentley one is far more expensive. If i get stuck on anything i can always ask you guys.

yeah you dont need a bentley, it wont tell you anything that the brtown haynes doesnt

If I remember rightly I had to buy the Bentley because it covers the 'Digifant II' fuel injection system which was not readily available in the UK for the MK1. But I got mine from amazon.de (brand new) for only 20 Euro's and free post!  

ah there is that! the mk2 haynes covers digifant 2 pretty well, but unfortuantly the mk2 haynes is just rubbish compared to the mk1 haynes its like a ladybird book in comparison

For those reading this that haven't got a clue what we're going on about.
Mine although is bog standard (out of the box from the factory) it has the MK2 GTI engine in it.
'Digifant II' injection and the power backed off to 98bhp.  
Even VW in Vienna have no idea what they are looking at, trust me!

Is the brown one a better pick for my car?

the brown one covers the newer mk1 from 82 onwards i.e. with the later blade fusebox and other small mods, plus it covers cabrio models which yours doesnt I dont think?

if you have a 1981 gti as per your sig theres no need to buy a brown one

If the wiring diagrams finally make any sense to you, can you please translate them to me because I've been reading  car manuals for about 35 years and I've never made any sense of those darn pictures!

Glad it's not just me then!

Problem is that in the book the wires are straight and I can never find the straight wire in the car, they are always curved and bent so I must have different wiring on my cars to the ones in the book.
