Importing from EU into the UK

Hello all,

Does anyone know whether I have to fully register, tax and insure my car in the UK if I want to sell it straight away?

I live in Holland and am moving to London next month, and unfortunately (through much persuasion..!) have to sell my Mk1.
I'm driving it over and I'm wondering if it's up to me to register or the new owner?

I'm not 100% on this but unless you trailer it of course. 

But as soon as a wheel drives on a UK road or another it must be taxed and insured or on official UK trade Plates. 

Either that or you take a huge gamble which I certainly wouldn't recommend! 

Let's see what others think.

My thoughts are you won't have to do anything straight away if it's fully legal and been driven in Holland.  A bit like if you were over here on holiday. I've seen plenty of eastern European cars been driven over here,by folk that have moved here. I believe it has to be changed eventually, maybe a year?  I am willing to be told otherwise. Try a search on Google I'm sure it's been asked before.
