Morning can anyone identify this plate and what it means it fell off my engine block 1985 GTI cab?

no seen anything like that on my cars…

dont suppose you have idea whats in your car? standard engine? or upgrades? post a picture and maybe some one could say if common to different engine.

normal marks are hard stamped on the block above distributor  would be eg/dx normally if 1.6 or 1.8 gti.

On the drive

Many thanks for the reply, will double check in the morning, pretty sure it's all standard and I'm sure I've seen dx, stamped in there, it's 1.8, but will confirm and photos tomorrow

Identification of plate

I’m sure I have seen that symbol before but can’t think where. Don’t quote me but I’m sure it was a engine rebuilders symbol

Think its had a VEGE reconditioned engine, think they had a different name in the 80s?

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

I think you maybe right, can't find the actual logo, but this is very similar.  I will drop them an email see if there is any records
