1.8 2e2 problem

Can anyone point me in the direction of a garage or mobile mechanic that knows there way around a 2e2 carburettor as mine decided it wants to idle at nearly 4000 mid journey today The closer to bolton the better thanks

Have you noticed it bogging down under acceleration at times or drinking fuel too, had a problem with one a few weeks back giving all those symptoms including random high revs, turned out to be auto choke stuck on as the water way to the auto choke unit was blocked solid, you can eliminate this by feeling the unit on the right hand side of the carb as you're looking at it, Cpl of small water pipes connect to it, circular unit about 2" in diameter, should be very hot to the touch if it's working ok, the intake manifold water way blocks up so it thinks the engine is cold all the time and keeps the choke on, if it's that then it's a manifold off job, unblock it and change O ring seal (which is the part that breaks down and causes the blockage)  :thumbs:
